Chapter 29

The race bell rang, the gates flew open, and all the horses went barreling down the track. Scott easily pulled ahead at the beginning with Alfred tailing on the outside of the track and an opponent between them. Feliciano rode quickly, but was crying the whole time, "AH!!!! FRATELLO!!! HELP ME!!!" Two other riders from the opposing team where sandwiching him giving him devilish grins. The horses ran down the track, and cleared the first fence. The opponent between Alfred and Scott lined up with Scott, and attempted to hit Scott with his reins. Scott blocked the hits, but they distracted his horse.
When they cleared the second fence Alfred caught up to the other two. They cleared the first hedge synchronized with each other. Scott looked over, and saw Alfred running together with them. So Scott pulled his horse closer to the other rider to shove him over closer to Alfred. It worked, Alfred had to pull back in order to avoid getting side swiped. However, as they approached the third fence Hero leapt over it farther than the others allowing him to take the lead.
Meanwhile, The other two riders tried to squeeze Feliciano and Nico, "AHH! FRATELLO!! LUDWIG!!!" Feliciano let go of the reins, tears flying from his face, and grabbed hold of the horses neck. Feliciano's sudden grab caused Nico to freak and thrash his head about, causing one of the riders' horse to also flip out, and steer straight towards the railing, and jump off the track. The other rider got close to Feliciano, and tried to pin him up against the rail.
Even with the rider trying to pin Feliciano they all crossed the water obstacle with no problems. After they cleared the second hedge, Scott managed to pull ahead of the opponent and ran neck and neck with Alfred. The other rider pushed his horse in an attempt to trample on the hind limbs of Scott, and Alfred's horses. Alfred looked behind, and so did Scott, they saw how dangerously close he was, and separated from each other just before the 5th fence. The other rider then pulled up between them.
Every one left cleared the fifth fence. The rider running next to Feliciano pulled up along side him, and reach over to tug on Feliciano's sleeve, this scared Feliciano and he fell the opposite way, off the saddle of the horse, but his leg was caught in the stirrup, the other over the top of the horse's back, and he held onto Nico's neck for dear life crying. Lovino yelled at his brother, "resistere per il caro vita!!!" Anotonio yelled the same thing, but in Spanish, "AGARRATE!!! Para tu vida agarrate!!" Arthur also yelled, "BLOODY HELL FELICIANO! Hold on for your life! Don't you dare let go!!!"
"HELP ME!!!" Feliciano cried back. Ludwig had the natural instinct to jump the rail, and help his friend, but knew he couldn't. He could only stand at the rail and grip it so tightly the wood and paint began to crack. Nico jumped the next fence with little Feliciano attached to his side, and the following hedge, however Feliciano ended up with some leaves in his mouth.  The other rider tried to pin the horse to the rail hoping the idiot Italian would let go and drop off before he was ground into the wood, but that's not what happened. Feliciano tried to climb back up onto the horse before the next fence, and as he was almost upright, but as Nico jumped the next fence, he slipped to the other side, and bumped the other rider and horse. This caused the guy's horse to trip up, and eventually stop and rear knocking the other guy off. "RUN, FELICIANO!!! MOVE YOUR BLOOMIN ARSE!!!" yelled Arthur, and Feliciano finally managed to right himself on the horse, and catch up to the others by the following fence.
The crowd was cheering, but Alfred knew that in order for them to continue, Feliciano had to catch up quicker. Alfred pulled out in front in order to get on the inside of the opponent rider, and push him towards the outside for the next fence was the one with the tight turn, and the guy would loose a ton of speed if he had to be on the outside making a wide turn. Meanwhile, Scott took the first position without delay seeing that Alfred was busy making sure the team would place, and Feliciano grabbed hold of the reins again, and went on the inside to gain a position over the last rider.
They jumped the fence; Scott, then Alfred, followed shortly by Feliciano then the last opposing rider that, like Alfred thought, took the turn too wide, and at which point should just assume he lost. Then it was time for the straightaway. Scott had a good lead on everyone. Feliciano pulled up along side Alfred. "Feliciano, just make it to the finish," said Alfred before he kicked Hero into over drive to take on Scott and Derek.
Hero's speed reserve kicked in, and bolted after his competition. Hero was not in favor of the view of another two horse's asses in front of him. In a matter of seconds, Alfred was running neck and neck with Scott. Scott tried to hit Alfred, but Alfred just took the hits, and kept pushing Hero towards the finish. The banner was in sight, and the adrenaline began to flow in his bloodstream. The world slowed down, the sounds disappeared. It was just him and Scott. The end of the race felt like an eternity away. The only thing Alfred could hear was the steady huffing of Hero, as his hooves beat at the ground. Alfred looked at Scott one last time, and saw the fires of hell in his eyes. Alfred looked forward, and kept Hero's steady speed until finally, at the last moment, he gave Hero one more swift kick, and *FLASH!*

Poor poor Feli. It can't be easy. I love him, though. and I laughed.
